Owner's Description
A house full of character dating back to the eighteenth century, Casa de Mendiz lies in the heart of the World Heritage Area of the Douro Valley and within the official designated area where the port grapes are grown. The house is in a hamlet. It has a walled garden which encloses a lawn and swimming pool, a small fruit orchard and of course grapes. The main living area is on the ground floor which includes a comfortable lounge/sitting room and dining room with interesting antiques and architectural details. Also on the ground floor are three double bedded rooms each with own en suite bathroom and balcony. The kitchen is in traditional style with a traditional Portuguese fireplace but also has modern equipment. On the upper floor are two further bedrooms with dormer windows and sloping wooden ceilings; one with a double bed and the other with two single beds each with an en suite bathroom. Upstairs there is a games room with pool table and a small art gallery. For somewhere quiet to relax there is also a terrace from where to enjoy the views and sunset. There is an option for a local cook to prepare meals in the villa, please ask for details when you enquire.
