Cyprus

Steeped in history with stunning mountain scenery and sea views, Cyprus offers a really warm ambience and friendly welcome that visitors return for time after time. The sunny island retreat of the Greek Goddess of Love, Aphrodite; Cyprus has a fascinating history. The hilltop Roman city of Curium and crusader castle outside Limmasol are just some of the ancient sights. The island has many other faces from the pretty coast of Coral Bay to the quaint fishing hamlet of Latchi and Polis with its delightful main square. Inland, the impressive Troodos Mountains offer natural beauty with shady forests, streams and waterfalls creating a unique backdrop to the landscape. There are many ?off the beaten tracką routes to explore by four-wheel-drive jeep (driving is still on the left) and you may well spot deer and birds of prey as you bump along the unmade tracks. With over 700 beaches, there is always a choice of secluded coves or more livelier beaches with watersports and tourist facilities. Cyprus has plenty of attractions to keep visitors coming back (not to mention 340 days of sunshine a year!) although many return simply for the genuine warm welcome of the Cypriots.
