Nazaret
The peaceful village of Nazaret, just ten minutes inland from Costa Teguise is a wonderful way of escaping to the "real' Lanzarote. Often referred to as Oasis de Nazaret, the village commands lovely views over the surrounding terrain. Geographically...

The stunning island of Lanzarote, is so much more than it first appears once you dig below the surface. The classic image of whitewashed villas standing in stark contracts to the dark, volcanic rock and clear blue skies is of course iconic - and accurate. But this didn't happen by accident. When you get to Lanzarote, take the time to look around discover the world of Cesar Manrique, the surrealist who did so much to ensure that the essence of Lanzarote would be preserved beyond his lifetime for future generations - not, of course to the agreement of everyone! One of the main resorts where there are plenty of villas to choose from is Playa Blanca, on the southern tip of Lanzarote and from here you can hop on s ferry for a short trip over to Fuerteventura. The hinterland to Playa Blanca is the Timanfaya National Park, home of the volcano of the same name which is simply fascinating to visit. A drive mongst the lava fields seems as though you a literally on a different planet. Puerto del carmen is perhaps one of the more well known centres, and although in places built up it does have a lovely little harbour lined with restaurants in beautifully restored warehouse buildings. Further up the coast Costa Teguise is a lovely resort, with plenty of facilities but with a relaxed feel. Insland from here the mountains rise, and there are lovely views starting from villages such as Nazaret, where there are also villas to be found. Lanzarote of course has the advantage of year round sunshine, so pretty much any time is good to travel.
