Addaya
One of those lovely little havens on the deeply indented north coast of Menorca which has provided fishermen a safe harbour for centuries. Addaya has been a fine mooring for yachts of all sizes, particularly favoured by boat owners from nearby...

Menorca, sometimes spelt Minorca, is the second largest of the Balearic Islands has long been a favourite for family villa and apartment holidays as it largely escaped the ravages of the seventies when Spain groaned under pressure to build high rise hotels along its beaches. The unique character of the island's people meant Menorca concentrated on trying to balance the need to attract tourism but retain the tranquil nature of the island. Most of the villas and apartments are therefore built in low rise developments, or urbanisations, which have strict boundaries to prevent them overspilling into the surrounding countryside. This is prevalent in the north with resorts such as Son Parc and Playa de Fornells which in itself is away from the pretty fishing village bearing the same name. Villas are also the mainstay of popular Binibeca, in the south of Menorca, which has a lovely relaxed feel to it and great for families. Menorca has two large cities, Mahon the capital and beautiful Ciutadella with its colourful harvour lined with fish restaurants nestling under the medieval city ramparts. The popular family resort of Cal'n'Bosch is nearby, with other popular south coast resorts being Son Bou/San Jaime, spectacular Cala Galdana and the fantastic long beach at Santo Tomas. Mahon itself is well worth exploring with a cafe society nightlife bustling along its extensive harbourfront which teem with beautiful yachts in the summer season.
