Algarve

Algarve beach The Algarve is a year-round playground with something to offer everyone. Famous for its signature sandstone cliffs bordering fabulous, unspoilt sandy beaches, the Algarve is also home to some of the best championship golf courses in Europe. A wide variety of resorts are on offer to suit all tastes. One of the best known is the ultra exclusive Quinta do Lago with its green boulevards playing host to spectacular villas with the odd celebrity home in the mix. Just along the coast lies Vale do Lobo, another favourite for villaseekers, and the evergreen Vilamoura, with its own championship gold courses. Nightlife lovers will head for Albufeira with its new sparkling marina development, and the suburb of Gale, where lots of villa rentals are to be found. At the far end of the coast, the Western Algarve is now beginning to become popular with great beaches and some new developments in and around Luz. But the Algarve is not all about sea and sand. Pretty inland villages play host to colourful local markets, cobblestone alleys and often marvellous views to the coast. The capital of the Algarve is Faro, with great shopping and lots of cafes and restaurants. The Algarve - it's all here!
