Alcudia
An inviting long stretch of sandy beach which runs for miles along the coast and sweeps down into warm clear waters. This lovely town has a combination of modern resort facilities including bars, restaurants and local shops and old town atmosphere...

The island of Majorca has been an enduring villas and apartments holiday favourite for many years now and there is plenty of availability across the island. Majorca, sometimes spelt Mallorca (both are correct, the first derives from the local dialect Mallorquin, the second from the Spanish language Castellano) is the largest of the Balearic Islands and believe it or not still very unspoilt in many places. Traditionally popular areas for villa holidays are in the North of the island, in resorts such as Puerto Pollensa, in the East around Cala D'or with its fantastic marina, although there is now a spread of properties across the island and the interior. The beautiful West Coast with its stunning mountain ranges towering over the "orange valley" of Soller and its lovely port are well worth the drive, but make sure you don't miss Cala Tuent, the less known beach off the famous La Calobra road. Further south the picturesque village of Deia (or Deya - here we go again!) has always been a haven for writers and artists down the years. In fact this south west corner is relatively untouched until you arrive at Andraitx, a lovely town and port which has a couple of celebrity residents to boast of! Unspoilt beaches? Try Cala Mondrago or S'Amarador in the south east. At the other end of teh scale unlimited chic nghtlife, extensive shopping, stunning architecture, stylish restaurants, a fashionable marina are all waiting in the capital Palma. It is a tribute to the strong will of this enterprising island race that over the years Majorca has managed to remain appealing to so many tastes whilst remaining largely true to its own culture. .jpg)
