On the south side of Tampa Bay, reached by crossing the impressive 'Sunshine Skyway' bridge from St Petersburg. Bradenton adjoins the larger city of Sarasota and is where you will find the majority of holiday villas with private pools in this district. These are all of an excellent standard, comparable to the best in Kissimmee, and none is further than a 25 minute drive to the beach. The stunning beaches are found on the offshore islands or 'Keys' reached by single lane causeways from the mainland. Bradenton Beach is gloriously undeveloped with miles of gorgeous white sands backed by woodland and grassy tufted dunes. North of Bradenton Beach is Anna Maria Island which stretches seven and a half miles along pristine sugar-white sand beaches. Anna Maria is charming, an ideal retreat for those who truly want to get away from it all and discover "old Florida". The traditional wood-paneled houses built on stilts to make the most of the sea views are delightful, some have been converted into beautiful holiday homes whilst others remain irresistibly 'local'. Anna Maria has a small town centre and there are a selection of good restaurants both here and along the beach. You will feel instantly at home in Anna Maria meandering the quiet streets or relaxing on the beach where there is usually a pleasant breeze. Anna Maria also has an exquisite residential area, spacious homes on the canal banks (many with their own moorings) are still within easy reach of the beautiful beaches - some are available for holiday rental although early booking is essential.
