Tias, which overlooks Puerto del Carmen is the main town of the municipality of the same name. A typical farming town it has an imposing 18th century church as well as the oldest preserved cemetery on the island. Tías is located 12 kilometres from the capital of Arrecife and just a ten minute drive from the airport. Tias has some small spanish bars, cafeterias and restaurants and is a friendly and lively village with a variety of shops and supermarkets. Just ten minutes by car is the bustling resort of Puerto del Carmen with miles of beautiful beaches and many more shops, bars and restaurants of all types. The old harbour of Puerto del Carmen is worth a visit for stylish dining including excellent fresh seafood.
