Cannes, Cote d'Azur, South of France - the words inevitably conjure up images of elegance, style, and glamour. Home of course to the Cannes Film Festival every spring, Cannes nevertheless reverts to a beautiful yet surprisingly relaxed playground at other times of the year. Temperate and confortable in winter, fantastically hot in the height of the summer, the beach along the famous Croisette is home to a myriad of restaurants bordering the beach, from the relatively simple to the decadently extravagant. The pretty village of Le Cannet is a few minutes inland, with wonderful views over teh bay from its elevated position. The quieter resort of Mendelieu is a short drive along the coast.
