The inland village of Maherado is the second largest on Zante and has a population of approximately 10,000. It is particularly well know for its architecture and especially for the church of Agia Mavra, which dates from the 14th Century Maherado is a traditional village located approximately seven kilometeres west the capital Zakynthos Town and is an ideal way of escaping from the beach back to the cool of the interior of this lovely island of Zante.
