Maro
Pictured right, this small village is just 4 kilometres east of Nerja along the coast. Maro has its sand/pebble beach located just over one kilometre from the Balcon de Maro with limestone rocks at each end. A charming Andalucian pueblo surrounded by rich orchards with a series of unique headlands formed by the gradual erosion of the cliffs by the sea. In some places the limestone rocks reach 80 metres above sea level, forming small and interesting bays. There are several restaurants friendly village and the annual fiesta in the first week of September is noisy, colourful and lots of fun. The unique Eagle Aquaduct (El Acueducto del Aguila) built in the 19th century to transfer water to Maro's Sugar factory is well worth a visit and you can enjoy pleasant walks with stunning views from the
